I can't figure out why my compure keeps crashing on windows boot up. It will boot to windows safemode with network support just fine. I've run adware and virus scane which found nothing.
Running windows xp sp2 and the computer has worked in the past, it's just acting up now for no appearant reason. There have been no software upgrades or install. Infact I tired system restore and it said nothing's been changed to be restored to.
If anyone has any idea please help.
Computer keeps crashing on windows boot up but will boot in safemode w/network, help?windows vista home premium
obviously something is causing your computer to crash.. it could be a bad startup program or a device driver that has become corrupted. you have stated that nothing has changed .. the fact that your computer worked fine one day and won't boot the next means that something HAS have to have changed.
option 1: from the cmd prompt type sfc /scannow
this will replace any system files that have been replaced by ones that have been changed with the proper one..
2: from the safemode menu screen.. turn off automatically reboot on error.. this will then stop with a blue screen of death and you might be able to see exactly what is causing the problem.
if 1 and 2 don't help then we go to option 3 .. use the create bootlog and in your windows folder you will see bootlog.txt again another hint to what the problem is..
once you have identified the offending file.. try renaming it from safemode.
4: final option to a repair install (do not select repair from the first screen) but from the screen at the point where you select where to install windows. If you are running sp2 you will need a slipstreamed install cd that already has sp2 integrated into windows xp. that is unless your windows install disk has sp2 already on it.

Install linux Suse 10 it is free and it doesn't crash, also Mac is better than PC.
This is a case where I would repair or reinstall windows.
You have driver/service problem. Try to recall what you've changed/installed before.
Disable the services one by one
Troubleshoot...
REINSTALL XP, DO THE FORMAT ON UR HDD ,DELETE PARTITIONS AND AGAIN FORMAT THE HDD THEN INSTALL UR XP AGAIN
Did u checked for errors on your disk. Either in safe mode check for errors on disk by going to drive and right clicking it-%26gt; in properties-%26gt; check for disk errors-%26gt; Full Scan.
Or boot in Dos mode.
use chkdsk C: command or whatever is your windows installation partition.
Try out it.
Depending on your version of Windows (XP for instance) you may be able to restore an saved image in safe mode? Do you seen an option for this?
First answer the following questions?
1) What is the error that you are getting?
2) What was the last thing you installed on your system or removed?
3) Did you possibly have windows Recovery options turned on?
4) Wihin Windows when in safe mode - right-click on My Computer select Manage - then select Device Manager
Within Device Manager are there any devices that seem to bo reporting issues?
Counting on the answers to these questions I may be able to further assist you and you should not have to reinstall windows
