Hi,
I am trying to reinstall Windows XP onto my laptop. I've inserted the XP Home Edition SP2 product recovery CD-ROM into the CD Drive..
Then a bright blue screen comes up, and this is what is written on it...
Windows Setup
============
The file iaStor.sys could not be found.
Press any key to continue.
(Then when you press a key, this message comes up in a gray box at the very bottom of the screen)
Setup failed. Press any key to restart your computer.
Can anyone help me figure out what's wrong, and maybe tell me how I can successfully re-install Windows XP. Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. The laptop has had no upgrades done, ie Vista. It has always run on Windows XP, and this is the first time I've tried to re-install windows.

Reinstalling Windows XP?ie 6 internet explorer
Get a soft cloth and clean the cd. in a circular pattern clean the cd. put it back in and it should be fine now.
Download Darik's nuke and boot to fully write zero's to the entire hard drive(format) and then try installing windows.
you might need to clean the lazer in the dvd drive some times the install wont work will when it needs cleaned also clean the disk and if that dont work try a external drive if that dont work then the xp disk is bad
You may have to uninstall Sevice Pack 2 before it will run? Check the link below.
