I have an XP SP2 cd rom with installation files in it, when I load it in the drive it runs automatically but cant boot from it. now I dont have a floppy drive other wise I cud have done that...but do u think is there any way I get the required files which can make this cd bootable

the disk should be bootable. you may have to go into your bios settings and change the boot order. sounds like the boot from cd option is disabled.

are you sure u have ALL the files that would usually be on an XP SP2 disc?
If so, use a burning program (i recommend Nero) and go into expert/advanced mode
there should be a cd type - bootable CD - that u can make. then u burn it like a regular data CD
o yea the other person reminded me of something, ur cd MIGHT be ok, but u need to check ur BIOS (basic input/output system) settings to see what the boot order is. (i reccomend floppy, CD/DVD-ROM, hard drive, then whatever crap they always add on, usually some network hardware that never gets to boot anyway lol
