My friend needs help with his wireless network connection thing, he has windows xp?

Ok here's the problem, my friend has had dial-up for a long time and does want to have high-speed internet, and he has an old computer with xp no sp2, and he has no wireless network finder thing, and for some reason when he tries to install sp2 for his xp everything like virus protector and firewall protecter installs but no network finder. I have windows vista and people that have windows vista, have u ever noticed that wireless connection finder in your taskbar, is there a way to finally find a way to get him a wireless connection by downloading something like that vista wireless connection thing?

Your friend wil need to install some wireless hardware before the Wireless connection will appear in his system tray.

Mike C is right, he need hardware. but some software can also make the icon appear
You need the software that comes with the wireless network card to set up the wireless connection. Go to the manufacturer's website and download the wireless card driver (make sure it's the correct model), remove the wireless network card, install the software, then put the card back in.
The wireless connection finder feature is a really great additon to windows XP and Vista. But you will only see it if you have wireless hardware. You would need a usb WIFI dongle or wireless network card. Then once the software is loaded then you would be able to see the wireless connection finder.
