Windows Explorer Crashes Everytime I Touch Something....?

I have a tower PC running Microsoft Windows XP SP2. Somehow two empty .JPG files (listed as a file, but when opened say "No preview available") got into the My Documents folder somehow and crashed Windows Explorer right after I restarted my computer. Every time I try to open something, I get the same message: "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close, sorry for any inconvenience." I can't sign on to AOL to get online, can't change the desktop properties, can't access the Control Panel, nothing. If I run a McAffee Virus Scan, every time the scanner scans the My Documents folder, Explorer AND McAffee crash. The same thing happens in Safe Mode also. I tried System Restore, didn't work. I do not have the original Windows XP Install CD. I don't want to take it in for costly repairs, and I can't afford to buy a new one. What can I do in this situation?

Just wipe the hardrive and re-install windows with the original disk!

Well, two things come to mind.

1.Call your computer manufacturer, and get the System Restore disk,(shipping, and handling, about $14 to $22)

2.Get Ubuntu 7.10, and install.(fresh format, bye-bye virus!) The installation disk you just have to pay shipping, and maybe include a blank cd.

Sounds like a problem with Internet Explorer, and AOL,(eccch!)
