Why do the windows close automatically after my screensaver has stopped?

I am running Windows Xp SP2. When any screensaver is running, and I return to regular desktop work, the windows that are open close, or programs that are running in the background close down, or sometimes I even get the shutdown dialog box when there's nothing else running! I've scanned for viruses, spyware, etc, and can't find a solution to the problem. Could it be a conflict with software I've installed? I think the problem started after installing Nero 7, but I'm not sure. Someone also mentioned that IntelliType or IntelliPoint software can cause this. Any help would be appreciated!

My coumputer was doing this too, and I just upgraded the inellimouse software to the latest version (6.2) that it said was for windows vista, and it has stopped doing it.

It's not spyware, just right click anywhere on the desktop with your mouse then click properties, click screen saver, then uncheck the box that says 'on resume display welcome screen'.
